TWEFDA owns the wider technology and IP platform. Its European patent has been granted, further territorial protection is being pursued, and the scope extends beyond the first commercial application.

AND IF WAVEAMP SUCCEEDS? TWEFDA is intended to become a shareholder in WaveAmp, allowing the first commercial route to create value both as a business and as an asset capable of strengthening TWEFDA's future financial position.

The strategic objective is that TWEFDA's next major investment round should not begin as previous ones have: with valuable technology, but insufficient financial resources. Instead, it should be approached with greater validation, commercial traction, shareholder value and potentially financial returns generated through its first commercial route.

TWEFDA technology may complement an existing device or energy-conversion system. The Retrofit route is intended to add another layer of value without replacing the underlying technology.

Established EPC capability can remain focused on engineering, procurement, integration and delivery while TWEFDA contributes protected technology and commercial rights.

A TECHNOLOGY IS MORE INTERESTING WHEN IT CAN BE CHALLENGED.

TWEFDA does not regard academic scrutiny as an obstacle to commercialisation. It is part of the route towards it.

THE OBJECTIVE IS NOT TO ELIMINATE UNCERTAINTY WITH LANGUAGE. IT IS TO REDUCE UNCERTAINTY WITH EVIDENCE.

From claim to evidence

Concept → modelling → analysis → prototype → testing → measured performance → validation.

TWEFDA's development route must progressively move through different levels of confidence.

Hydrodynamics & control

Questions worth testing.

How does the system behave under real wave conditions? How effectively can operating modes be coordinated?

Energy systems, engineering & economics

The machine is only part of the research question.

Grid value, offshore engineering, materials, maintainability, policy and commercial viability all create testable questions.

Independence matters

A result is more valuable when it does not depend solely on the inventor's own model.

External testing should reveal not only what works, but where assumptions fail and where designs or claims must change.

Research collaboration can also create value before commercialisation through technical validation, student and researcher development, datasets, papers, methods, simulation capability and a deeper understanding of offshore energy systems.
