ESWave is TWEFDA’s core offshore machine: a point absorber when generating, a gravitational storage system when storing, and a platform designed to change role as the energy system changes.

The name was conceived as part of the product story, not as a technical acronym alone. ESWave is presented as a valuable offshore asset — a jewel that must be green in purpose and protected in the ocean.
GREEN BY PURPOSE.
The emerald represents the environmental ambition of the machine: renewable energy, reduced dependency on electrochemical storage, attention to wildlife protection and the possibility of creating a small resting point for marine birds.
PROTECTED IN THE OCEAN.
The deep-blue sapphire represents the sea and the need to protect a valuable asset. Portability and the jacking-up strategy are intended to improve survivability, inspection and maintenance in demanding offshore conditions.

Generation function
When generating, ESWave is a point-absorber Wave Energy Converter. A buoyant body follows the sea surface while the PTO reacts against a fixed reference connected to the seabed.
Within that motion, TWEFDA introduces Weight-Changing Energy: the machine changes its state so that what goes up differs from what goes down.
Storage function
When storing, external or internally generated energy can be used to raise the machine and store gravitational potential energy — effectively creating a pumped-hydro behaviour in the ocean.
When that stored energy is released, the tidal range can add a second energy contribution over time.

WHAT GOES UP DIFFERS FROM WHAT GOES DOWN.
TWEFDA is exploring a non-reciprocal energy conversion mechanism in which the machine’s behaviour changes between upward and downward motion. The concept is currently positioned as an in silico proof of concept and remains subject to physical validation.
