The TWEFDA Hub is the common facility that turns a group of flexible machines into a connected offshore energy system — processing power, coordinating assets and creating a shared interface with the wider grid.
THE HUB DOES NOT HAVE TO BELONG TO ESWAVE ALONE.
The original concept was designed to cooperate with other offshore generators and consumers. Offshore wind, floating solar, future wave technologies, oil-and-gas assets and other systems can interact through a common energy-management environment.

The Association can absorb energy when local production or the grid creates a storage opportunity.

A Hub can bring the point of delivery closer to offshore assets, creating a local interface where power, data and control can be integrated before energy is routed into the wider system.
ONE OF THE OLDEST TWEFDA IDEAS IS ALSO ONE OF THE MOST PRACTICAL.
The Hub exists partly because offshore devices become expensive when every unit carries its own complete set of equipment. Centralising common functions can reduce duplication and make a fleet easier to operate.
CAPEX
Common generators, control equipment, transformers, connection systems and services can replace repeated standalone components.
OPEX
Fewer unique offshore elements can mean fewer inspection points, fewer maintenance tasks and simpler commissioning and decommissioning.
Performance
Removing unnecessary equipment from each moving ESWave can reduce mass and allow more of the ocean motion to be used by the machine itself.
WHAT IF DECOMMISSIONING COULD SOMETIMES BECOME TRANSITION?
TWEFDA was founded around the possibility that selected decommissionable offshore assets might become useful infrastructure for a new energy system rather than liabilities that must always be removed immediately.
Where engineering integrity, regulation and economics allow, a jacket, pipelines, wells, power connections or simply the offshore location itself may retain value.
This is not a blanket claim that every asset should be reused. It is a proposal to preserve optionality where reuse can create more environmental and economic value than immediate removal.
